Artwork and Meal Plan
Well hey there, blog.
I'm going to break the silence here-- no, not by catching you up on any of the crazy, wonderful events and traveling we've been doing in the past month-- but by blogging about my kids' artwork. Because I have been saying to myself, "this just has to go on the blog" since, like, March... and, well, I have to start somewhere.
Specifically, I'm going to tell you about Miss C's artwork lately, because it has been outstanding.
First, the "oof" pictures.
For a while she was drawing a series of pictures of a man crashing into something and saying "oof". Many of us were the recipients of an "oof" picture-- myself, Daddy, sisters, etc. When she was asked, "What did he run into?" she responded, "Hard hay."
Oh, look at this lovely Easter card that L made for me! Lots of fingerprint art.
Just had to include that one. Oh, and L's entry into her homeschool journal a few days before her birthday:
Well, and then there were these amazing houses that the girls drew for our animal counters (homeschool math manipulatives). They all had kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms, living rooms, even pools. Such lucky animals.
Okay, now back to C.
There are so many times when she will be making a drawing, sitting at the homeschool desk, her legs swinging as she hums to herself, and then suddenly she will ask, "Mama, how do you spell {insert longest sentence in the universe here}?"
Keep in mind that she is only four, and yes she knows how to write all of her letters, but in my mind I don't expect her to have the patience to sit there and write out such a long sentence as I spell each word individually. And so I usually tell her, "That's a lot of letters; be sure to leave lots of room, okay?"
"Yep," she always responds, legs swinging.
And I begin to spell. After each letter, she will say, "Yep." And after five full minutes of listening to me spell I expect her to lose patience and move on, but... she never does.
Here is one such example, a painting she made entitled, "There is a big storm in the middle of the night."
I wish you could see all of the words, because they're all there-- every last one. She ended up painting over some of them.
This particular painting was one that you unfolded to reveal a massive blue and gray swirl on the inside-- the storm, of course.
Here's another one like it, with a sentence not quite so long this time: "Up up up and away".
This last one is Harry Potter and Ron Weasley being thrown out of Ron's enchanted car by the whomping willow. Can you see Harry's glasses and his scar, and Ron's red hair? I love Ron's face!
Because Miss C is one of the more verbally quiet girls in our house, it's extra fun to see her thoughts expressed on paper.
Sneaking in our meal plan for the week on the tail end of this post!
