Is this thing on???

Two weeks flown by and nary a blog post to show for it.  I had last week's meal plan in the drafts and tried to come back to it two or three times, but there's this little person that just keeps interrupting me.

I certainly don't mind.  She is currently having an explosion of new skills, facial expressions, and desires that she is finding new ways to make known.  One big example is that, just in the past week, she has become fascinated with my coffee cup.  Whenever I am holding her she is starting to make a quick grab for it.  Iced coffee with a straw is particularly tantalizing.  It always surprises me in my half-awake stupor, but when I think about it, all of her sisters did the same at her age.  Just one of those little things that you forget.  I guess I will either have to quit holding her while I drink coffee, or switch to a less interesting coffee mug.  It doesn't help that my favorite mug is the owl that I painted with the girls and Auntie Bethie at the pottery place not long ago.

Do you ever get so excited about your breakfast that you take a picture?  No, I'm the only one who does that?  Okay then.

Anyway, it has been a fabulous weekend here, filled with lots of relaxing.  J has had a week of wonderful sleeping that I hesitate to even mention for fear of jinxing it.  She goes down about 7 PM and has slept through until 5:30 (sometimes later!) without a feeding every night for a week.  And so I have all of this energy and I'm motivated to just start working out after I feed her at 5:30 ish.

So Saturday morning I was on the treadmill at 5:40, and enjoyed the first episode in the new season of Grantchester while I ran a 10K.  Then I did the grocery shopping and went to my dentist appointment (yes, my dentist now has Saturday appointments! how convenient!) and stopped by the farmer's market, all before 10 AM.  I have missed being a morning person during the new-baby fog.

I've also been doing lots of food prep for the week, which is what I would do every weekend if I had my druthers... it just makes life so much easier during the busyness of weekdays.  So far we have three loaves of Elise's quickbread

(C helped)

two batches of homemade protein bars

and dairy-free pancakes are currently soaking in the blender.

It has been a rainy/snowy (yes, snowy!) weekend so perfect for staying in and baking up a storm (pun intended).
