Last night

Last night was a sweet moment with my girls that I want to remember.

M had a doctor's appointment after work, and then a meeting later in the evening.  He came home around supper time for about 45 minutes, and then he was off again.

We were eating supper when he walked in, and I had just sat down with the girls but was feeling pretty nauseous.  (Remember I mentioned that pregnancy nausea reared its ugly head again these past two days?  I'm actually not really sure if it was pregnancy nausea, or if I just ate something bad on our trip, or if I was just extremely overtired, but I have not been feeling well at all.  I seem to be on the upswing tonight, thankfully!)

I ate about two bites of my supper and then started to feel like vomiting, so I stopped eating.  After sitting at the table a few more minutes I told M I needed to go lay down, and I did.

M very kindly and sweetly got the girls completely ready for bed and sat them down in front of a movie for me.  As I was laying down I overheard him talking to them and explaining that I wasn't feeling well.

He came in to let me know he was leaving for his meeting, and said that the girls were totally ready for bed-- pjs on, teeth brushed, antibiotics taken, pottied-- and all I had to do was tell them to get in bed when it was time.  I thanked him profusely and joined the girls in the living room, laying down on the floor because being upright in any way made me feel like running for the bathroom.

And this is the sweet part...

L and C immediately joined me on the floor.  L covered me with her blanky and C snuggled up behind me, pressing her little cheek to mine.  L laid by my side, and C stroked my head reassuringly.  N joined us after a while, laying down with her head next to mine.  We all watched a good portion of Return of the Jedi together in this position, and gradually I began to feel better.

L popped up to grab the remote when the scary parts that we usually skip came around, and she dutifully skipped them so I didn't even have to press a button.

I told the girls that after Luke lifted C3P0 using the force in the Ewok village, we would turn it off and go to bed.  Immediately after that part L used the remote to turn of the player, and then she said, "Don't worry Mama, I'm going to turn on the outside lights for Daddy."  She then went to the front door and turned on the foyer light and the outside porch light, so Daddy could see to get in after his meeting.

They were all in bed within seconds.  I just gave them kisses and then crashed in my own bed.

I felt the love and care and thoughtfulness of my husband and girls that night, and it made me proud and thankful.

That's all.  :)

(I've been too sick to take pictures in the last few days, so here's N with a cannon in St. Augustine, FL.  With cute crooked sunglasses.)
