7 QT: Empty My Phone Edition
So when the new OS for iPhone came out recently, my phone was so full of pictures that I didn't have room for the download. I've never wiped my phone since I got it in January this year, and I usually take several pictures a day, so that makes a lot of sense I guess. But it was getting to the point where I couldn't even receive picture texts from anyone, my phone was so full.
We ended up starting school over an hour late on the morning I decided to back up my phone and upgrade the OS, despite my having woken up an hour before the girls to try get it done. It just took sooooo long to get all of those pictures (there were over 3,000!) moved and backed up to my external drive, and then upgrade the OS. Plus I had never connected my iPhone to my MacBook before, so of course iTunes wanted to sync and everything. Sheesh. Can you see why I had not done this in nine months, when I can barely find the time to clip my toenails??
Long story long, as I was going through all the pics I was reminded of some events that haven't gotten blogged lately. So here they are, comin' atcha in random order.
P.S. Does anyone else with an iPhone find that they have trouble texting when the weather turns cold? My hands are so icy these days that my phone touchscreen no longer senses the heat from my fingertips and I have to either speak my texts or stick my hands in my armpits before I type. #firstworldproblems
L and I had a wonderful time at her preschool field trip to the apple orchard a few weeks ago. C was with Grandma, N was at her Thursday nature science homeschool program. It was so wonderful just chatting with L, enjoying the crisp fall weather, taking a hayride, and... well... taking a break from my usual life of trying to remember 12,000 things at once and keeping track of multiple people and schedules. It felt so great to focus on such a special little lady.
N had her Daisies investiture ceremony!
The ceremony and celebration were so much fun, for all three girls (younger sisters attended with me). I can't say enough about what a great community this troop seems to be and we are fitting right in with new friends. I just love her leaders and the other parents. They are so kind and welcoming. We look forward to a great first year of scouting!
Aw. My heart just about melted when I got this for my birthday. I just pictured them all running up to the bakery counter and specifying exactly what they wanted on the cake.
C stole my candle.
I had the perfect day-- it was gray and cloudy and fall-like, which is my kind of weather if you know me well. We spent a relaxed day at home, had dinner at Panera and M walked around with the girls while I had 30 minutes of uninterrupted shopping time at Old Navy to spend my birthday money (I bought my first new purse in nearly 10 years). We then went home and had our cake, put the girls to bed, and M and I snuggled up to watch an episode of Downton Abbey. The best!
C's latest thing? Drawing people with teeth.
I love it!
A week after my birthday, I made a pumpkin pie for M's. I made it the day before his birthday actually, and it was already half gone by the morning of the actual day.
It occurred to me that this is the first pumpkin pie that I've ever actually made... M always makes the pumpkin pies for Thanksgiving in our family. I have to say, I think mine was inferior to his, but not at all bad as a first effort. We made it disappear pretty quickly, so it must not have been too disgusting.
For M's birthday this year, we sort of did the same thing we did for mine... had a quiet day at home, and I made his requested meal of fish tacos. He blew out a candle on his piece of pie. Later on next week when it fits into our schedule, he's talking a half day off from work and we're going to visit the USS Constitution in Boston Harbor-- one of his favorite places. It will be neat to share it with the girls for the first time. Pics forthcoming!
Well, it's looking mighty likely that tomorrow's half marathon in Hartford will be a wet one.
Honestly, I'm not worried about it... a couple of my training runs have happened in the rain, so why not keep up the tradition? Kinda takes your mind off the pressure, actually. It would be a bummer to have soaking wet feet and get crazy blisters, so I'm hoping it won't be a total downpour. The forecast looks more like a steady drizzle, so we will hope for the best. It will definitely make for an interesting race recap, though! Stay tuned!!
