Daisies, The Fair, and Meal Plan
Greetings to you all on this gorgeous Sunday evening! It's gorgeous here in New England, anyway, after a hot, humid week last week... how is your weather treating you?
A few quick life updates and then meal plan!
Zach and Piper came this weekend too, and we had a blast! It was so much fun to have a brief catch-up session with them. I didn't take any pictures :( They were on their way back home to Virginia from a Maine vacation. Safe travels, guys!
So... my workout recap. This week training was almost a complete wash, because I was feeling really icky in my tummy for a lot of the week. Whether it was some kind of mild stomach virus, or something I ate, or just being stressed and overtired, I don't know. But nausea and a crampy tummy plagued me throughout the day for several days, and every time I tried to run I felt like puking and I got major stitches in my side. So I took a few days off from training to give myself a break from getting up at 5:15 to work out, and see if the extra rest did me any good. It seemed to help, and by Friday mid-day I was feeling pretty much normal. So, it's not much to speak of, but here's the workout recap:
Monday: Crazy 8 workout at 15 minutes on the treadmill at 10:07 pace
Tuesday: 3.5 mile run, in 85 degree heat, during which I felt like dying and puking all at the same time... so yeah, 11:01 pace on that one.
Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday: off
Saturday: 12.1 mile run, in 80 degree heat with a dew point in the upper 70s (really humid!) I don't run well in the heat, especially when it's combined with humidity, so this was another slow one... 11:20 pace.
There were some huge storms last night and the oppressive humidity broke, so today it is crystal clear and SO much cooler! The weather for this week is supposed to be much more fall-like so I'm looking forward to some easier runs. I don't know how all of you runners from the south can do it!

N joined Daisy Scouts!
We are part of a homeschooling troop that meets during the day, so although it's a bit of a drive (four towns away) it fits with our schedule really well. And I can already tell that this is going to be a great group of girls and adults. Both N and I felt right at home talking and playing. We don't really have a homeschool co-op, so this is the first time I've had an opportunity to chat with a larger group of parents who are of the same mind with regard to homeschooling. A few of them are veterans-- one particular mom I talked to just graduated the youngest of four children from her homeschool. It was really a refreshing day; lately I've been feeling like I have to explain myself to everyone regarding our homeschooling decision this year, and it was so nice to... well... *not* have to do that. For a little while.
We went to the fair on Friday night... it's becoming a back-to-school tradition for us! So fun to get our corn dog and carousel on.

I loved Girl Scouts as a kid! It was so humid here this weekend, too. Way to push through on that run!
