Crafternoon and Tea Party
I'm currently finding myself in a strange situation. My two youngest are napping. N is at the art museum with her Aunt Beth (what a great birthday present for our young artist!). Today is the last day of my online teacher training course, and I was able to finish my work this morning between services at church. Our house is completely clean, because we had guests over for N's birthday party yesterday. The only thing on my to-do list is one load of laundry, and making dinner a little later.
Wow! I'm a lady of leisure!!
What to do? Why, catch up on blogging of course.
What better way to start than by telling you about N's little birthday gathering that we had yesterday. What a fun day it was!
I suggested the idea of a "crafternoon" to N and she loved it, being the crafty girl that she is. She asked if we could do a tea party along with it, requesting "real tea" and all of her favorite tea time foods (crepes, sandwiches, cupcakes etc.)
The girls had a sleepover at Gram's (L's new nickname for my Mom) the night before the party, so I was able to move quickly through all of the food prep and craft organizing. M helped me out with the cleaning Saturday morning before the party.
I have to say, this is by far the cheapest birthday party I've ever thrown. I really tried to focus my craft ideas on things we already had around the house, and most of the items on the menu were things I could make from scratch (my Momma helped out by making the scones). My total birthday party budget was around $30.
And I think it was one of the most fun birthday parties we've ever had.
I'll let the pictures tell the story.
We crafted, on a beautiful day in our backyard:
A perfect day! We'll have to do it again sometime.
More updates to come...

We crafted, on a beautiful day in our backyard:
We hung out, played with our friends, and picked some apples from our tree:
The birthday girl opened her presents:
...and then we tea partied with our friends.
And then we read some of our new books together:
A perfect day! We'll have to do it again sometime.
