L's 3-year Checkup

Time for another checkup post!  L and C had their checkups together (L's 3-year and C's 18-month)... our pediatrician's office is cool like that; they schedule them together to save us a trip.

L was a champ for the checkup.  It was a good reminder to me as I held her unhappy, stranger-anxious younger sister that there are easier days ahead for C in the checkup department.  L did everything that was requested of her with a smile, and even giggled when she had her belly checked.  When they did a finger stick for her lead/anemia test, L was fascinated by the blood coming out of her finger.  She watched in awe as the nurse filled up a slide with her blood, turned to me, and said "I love my finger stick Mama!"  She's my tough little gal!

Here are the stats:
Height: 38 inches (75th percentile)
Weight: 31.5 pounds (58th percentile)

Here are L's favorites at the age of 3!

Favorite Foods:
Mac n' Cheese (much requested)
Fruits of just about any kind... peaches, pears, pineapple, bananas, apples, oranges, grapefruit, grapes, strawberries, watermelon, blueberries
Daddy's homemade waffles
cheese
toast
milk
Raisin Bran

(L is in the middle of a pretty picky phase... at least for her.  Many of her old favorites are met with disapproval and she is extremely reluctant to try anything new.  She still eats well, just not with as much variety she used to.  Oh well... this too shall pass.)

Favorite Movies/TV Shows:
Thomas still tops the list.  Hands down.
Star Wars
Angelina Ballerina

Favorite Toys:
*Trains, trains, and more trains.
*Blocks, or anything that involves construction (Tinker Toys, cup stackers, etc.)
*Her big sister is one of her favorite toys!  They play made-up games together all day long (dress up, school, babies, doggies, etc.)

Favorite Books:
Anything Berenstain Bears
the Arthur books
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
"The Bear" books by Karma Wilson (especially "The Bear Snores On")
Anything to do with dinosaurs (the "How Do Dinosaurs" series by Jane Yolen and Mark Teague, Mine-a-saur, The Berenstain Bears' Dinosaur Dig)
the Can You See What I See? books (her favorites are the "spooky" ones... "On a Scary Scary Night" and "Treasure Ship")

Favorite Songs:
Anything silly.  She loved the Sesame Street Silly Songs CD that we checked out of the library.
Raffi is still a favorite!
She likes Daft Punk's new album, which Daddy and Mommy are playing often these days
Movie soundtracks... Star Wars, Mulan, Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid, The Muppets
She makes up her own songs a lot these days.  She'll either narrate what she's doing by using a tune she already knows and make up new words, or she'll make up a new song altogether.

L is doing so many big girl things.  She'll be the flower girl in my cousin's wedding next weekend, and she'll be starting preschool in a matter of weeks!  Wow.  Time keeps flying faster and faster!

Stay tuned for C's 18-month checkup report and favorites, coming soon.
