Jumbled Up II

Since I find myself with little time (and even less creative energy) for blogging these days, I'm going to report a few random tidbits in "jumbled up" fashion, as I did a couple weeks ago.

*C has had a bit of a growth spurt in her feet, and so the next generation of shoes now fit her.  It's so fun to watch her trying to walk in "big kid" shoes... there's always a learning curve when baby is used to walking in Robeez or bare feet.  We tried sneakers the other day, and she stomped around the house delightedly.  Her new Crocs from Grandma had her shuffle-stepping everywhere:

Pretty cute stuff.

*I have a little habit of using "Miss" in front of my kids' names as a pet name, and L seems to have adopted the tendency.  She calls her sisters Miss N and Miss C, just as Mama does.  As she strolls into the room, she'll greet me with a "Hi, Miss Mama."  And yes, this does mean that she greets M with a "Hi, Miss Dada."  I guess we'll need to go over gender-specific prefixes at some point.

*We've been enjoying a really delicious new dessert around here lately.  It originated a few weeks ago when we had been asked to another family's house for dinner, and I had volunteered to bring dessert, but due to different circumstances I didn't get a chance to bake anything ahead of time.  About an hour before we were due to go to dinner, I remembered my tried and true Apple Oatmeal Bars recipe, and I decided to try it substituting blueberries for the apples, since we had some in the freezer.  As it turns out, the modified recipe makes a delicious "blueberry crumble".  It took me about five minutes to throw it all together and then another 35 to bake it.  We picked up some ice cream to have on top, and viola!  Instant delicious dessert.  I made some for Mother's Day and meant to get a picture of it to post here, but it vanished rather quickly.  That may or may not have been due to the fact that I was sneaking mouthfuls of it straight out of the pan the whole day after I made it.  And I'm pretty sure my husband was too.

*I have a little brag to share about L, since this blog is mostly for the purpose of bragging about my kids, as you all know.
This would be my favorite picture ever if it weren't backlit and if L didn't have chocolate all over her lips and there wasn't clutter in the background.  Oh well, you capture those moments when you can get them!
L has developed the most beautiful, whistle-y little head voice (meaning she can sing very high with relative ease.)  Sometimes we'll do pitch-matching exercises during violin or music time, and lately she insists on singing everything an octave higher than I sing it (even if I sing it pretty high to begin with).  I'm pretty sure she came close to a high F the other day, which, as you know, is the high note in Mozart's Queen of the Night aria:

Today, as we were driving to the library and had our Disney World CD playing, she was trying to sing along with one of the male singers.  In despair, she said, "Mama, I just can't sing low."  Then a crazy grin spread across her face, and she said, "... but I can sing high!!"

So I guess we've got a budding soprano on our hands.

*And that's about all I've got for this week, besides this cute picture of C eating breakfast.

There ya go!
