C is 15 Months!
...almost 16, actually-- as usual, I'm behind on the checkup blogging.
Our poor pediatrician has not really had a chance to get a good look at C since her 9 month visit. She is always either been in a bad mood or terrified due to stranger anxiety. Gone is the placid little baby of her early months, at least when it comes to being poked and prodded by the doctor. She pretty much threw a complete fit during the examination.
(Stranger and separation anxiety have been at their worst for C in the past month or two... but it's nice to go back and read that I wrote about the same thing when L was approaching 18 months. It's perfectly normal, particularly for the stay-at-home-with-mommy baby, but that doesn't make it any less stressful for Mommy... especially when it's time for church nursery! Who wants to witness their child's anxious and confused screams of terror? Not me!)
So here are the stats:
Weight: 20 lb, 3 oz (12th percentile)
Height: 31 inches (75th percentile)
Head: 47 centimeters (75th percentile)
Did you read that? She gained almost THREE POUNDS!! I was pretty excited after the worry over her weight at the 12 month visit. The pediatrician was totally right about the whole weaning issue, and her weight gain shows it. Her height really took off too-- although I think it's much easier for them to mis-measure this, and therefore harder to gauge. Who can really accurately measure a wiggly 15-month old?
Favorite Foods:
Many kinds of soups (clam chowder, potato soup, broccoli cheddar soup, tomato soup). We give it to her in the straw bowl so it's not quite so messy!
Mushy breakfast foods (cornmeal mush, oatmeal, 7-grain cereal)
Lots of fruits: bananas, clementines, grapes, strawberries, blueberries, raisins
Blueberry Banana smoothies (see our family recipes!)
Avocados
Quinoa Granola (see family recipes for the link!)
Cheese (she'll ask for "chssss")
Spaghetti (see family recipes... again :) or any kind of pasta (mac n cheese, casseroles, etc.)
Applesauce
(wow... that favorite food list is waaayyy longer than last checkup! hooray!)
Favorite Movies/TV Shows:
She still doesn't have much interest in TV (As I've mentioned before, she knows she can get Mommy's undivided attention while the bigger girls are absorbed in a TV show... she usually makes a beeline for me when the TV goes on. So much for my plans to get things done while the kids watch TV!) The only two shows that will hold her attention for 10 minutes (tops) are The Wiggles and my playlist of Classic Sesame Street videos on YouTube.
Favorite Toys:
*Baby doll and her stroller. She strolls and strolls little baby doll around the house all day long, usually saying "Babyyyyy" as she goes.
*She loves throwing a ball and/or trying to catch it. (She'll count to three: "wee... wee... weeeee!" and then throw)
*She likes to play with N's Calico Critters and their house, and our Little People Princess Castle-- anything with little dolls and doors that open and close!
*She loves blowing bubbles, and like most kiddos at this age, she wants to do it herself, which results in lots of bubble spills and bubble wands going into the mouth
Favorite Books:
Hand Hand Fingers Thumb
Go Dog Go
Barnyard Dance
Goodnight Gorilla
Look At Me
Panda Bear Panda Bear
Thomas & Friends Railway Rhymes
From Head to Toe
Favorite Songs:
*There are two songs that always must be sung when we change her diaper: The Hot Dog Song from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. She sings the first line of each as I begin changing her, just to remind me of my responsibility to sing both before the diaper change is over.
*If You're Happy and You Know It. (Her sisters usually sing the first line to get her going, saying "If you're happy and you know it say ba ba," and C replies, "BA BA!" She can also do the clapping part, obviously.)
*She also loooves Rock-a-bye Your Bear, just as her sisters did at this age.
*She has been rocking out lately to the Tangled soundtrack that we got from the library.
Recent Words/Phrases:
"Here ya go"; "Good girl"; "Flower"; "Bubbles"; "Bowl"
(I'm estimating her total word count at around 20 right now)
Happy 15 months, little one!
