Jumbled up
Here's a jumbled-up mish-mash of what's in my head lately. Ready?
* Still reeling somewhat, as is everyone around here, from the marathon bombings last week and the massive manhunt that happened last Friday. We weren't close geographically to the cities in which the gunfire took place, but I was still thankful that my family were all here with me at home. It's hard to get "back to normal" after any sort of attack like this, especially one that happened so close to us, in a city that we visit every week. Even though we haven't told the girls anything about what has happened, I found comfort in what Mister Rogers had to say about dealing with tragic events. "I am always comforted by realizing that there are still so many helpers-- so many caring people in this world."
* I'm awfully glad I have a smiling face like little L's around to keep my spirits up. Her sense of humor and storytelling abilities are developing every day. At least once a day she cracks up somebody in this house. And I'm just so enchanted with her little two-year-old voice that I want it to last forever. I captured this video while she was eating lunch the other day, for the purpose of preserving the memory of that little voice, as well as giving you all proof that I don't make up these crazy things she says.
We had just finished talking about how Daddy had driven over a nail and got a flat tire, so he had to take his car to the fix-it shop and have the tire fixed, and then they pumped it up with air. Here's L imagining all of the other things that might "go flat":
(Sorry about the Raffi blasting in the background!)
* While we're on the subject of videos, check out what the girls did with Daddy the other night while Mommy was away teaching:
I probably shouldn't laugh at our newest couch being abused, but I did.
* I'll share a few photos of the girls enjoying their Easter baskets, because I realized I never really blogged about how we spent our Easter.

The summary of Easter is that Mommy and Daddy spent the better part of the day getting to and from church and singing in three services. Then we came home and rested for a while, and then went to eat Easter dinner, which was cooked entirely by other family members and I didn't have to lift a finger. It was lovely!
* I just finished this book:
An incredible story. Worth a read. Especially if you enjoyed the TV show. Or if you like babies. Or if you enjoy a compelling story of a spiritual awakening. There are some graphic descriptions of what people who live in poverty endure-- which, if you can stomach it, is a good thing to read, I think. It's a great reminder of the privileged lives we lead, although we may think we are "poor".
There's more I could say, but the baby's waking up, so... goodbye for now!

I've got another book for the kiddos (and parents), called "Darth Vader and Son" http://www.amazon.com/Star-Wars-Darth-Vader-Chronicle/dp/145210655X/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1366767698&sr=1-2&keywords=darth+vader
