N's Favorites

Back when I posted about N's 4-year checkup I neglected to include her favorites.  So here they are...

Favorite Foods:
Grilled Cheese
Strawberries
Pizza
Hot Dogs
Waffles (also, Wacky Wild Waffles)
Rice with "sauce" (soy sauce)
Turkey sandwiches
Honey-roasted peanuts
Anything sweet (ice cream, cookies, candy, brownies, cake, or dessert of any kind!)

Favorite Movies/TV Shows/Characters:
Any Disney princess movie (Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Aladdin, The Little Mermaid)
Star Wars (heavy emphasis on this one right now!)
Angelina Ballerina

Favorite Books:
*Ever since Halloween, N has really gotten into "spooky" stories.  If something at the library looks dark-ish and catches her eye, she always wants to check it out.  Some are just fun, like Arthur's Halloween, some are mysterious, like the Chris Van Allsburg books (she loves The Garden of Abdul Gasazi, Zathura, and The Wreck of the Zephyr) and some are legitimately scary, like The Banshee.  She doesn't seem to be scared at all by these stories... very unlike myself as a child.  I think she's just doing some further exploring of the difference between real and imaginary.
*She's doing some pre-reading and word recognition, so anything with repeated words or phrases is a favorite (The Mitten, Go Dog Go, Hand Hand Fingers Thumb)
*In the past month or so, she has gotten really into telling stories... she loves to hear stories that we make up just for her (rather than reading out of a book).  Daddy is better at this than Mommy!

Favorite Songs:
The soundtrack to the Muppet Movie... we listen to this at least once a day! (Thanks Uncle Zach! :)
The Chipmunks' Christmas album
Her Suzuki Violin songs (she makes up some fun words to these!)
The Nutcracker Ballet music
Lights, by Ellie Goulding (I was listening to this one day and she has loved it ever since!)

I should also mention that she loves to play "I Spy With My Little Eye".  She asks whatever grown-up is around to play with her, multiple times a day.

(She also loves her Kiwi Crate from Auntie Bethie!)

  1. I am so, so glad I'm not the only one with a preschool girl who has a Star Wars obsession :)
Have you (or the girls) watched the movie version of the Nutcracker, with Macaulay Culkin? It's from 1993 I think but I'd never seen it till this summer - my kiddos just love it.

    1. Oh my goodness, yes!! I thought I was the only one in the world who knew about that movie. My family had it when I was a kid, so when N checked "The Nutcracker" book out from the library, I dug through my VHS collection and sure enough, still had it. Both N and L have watched it many times and love it!

It seems like our kids would be best pals in real life! :)
