Official Thanksgiving Post

I think these pictures should give you a pretty good idea of all the things for which I am thankful.

Getting ready for the race... L was stretching out and really wanted to go run with us!  (The girls stayed home and watched the Macy's Parade with Grandma, Aunt Beth, and Piper... a much more enjoyable alternative for them, I think.)

The race went great!  For those of you that haven't yet read about our Thanksgiving Day road race, it's a 4.78-mile race that we run as a family every year on Thanksgiving morning.  It was a gorgeous day-- about 50 degrees and sunny.  My unspoken goal was to at least match my personal record time (55:13) from 2008.  I ended up setting a new PR... 52:36!!!  Hooray for me!!!  Yes, that's still pretty slow, especially compared with my husband's new PR-- 34:33!!  M is now in the "under 35" category, which means he gets to be at the very front of the pack in the lineup for next year's race.  So proud of you honey!  Everyone else in the family had a really good time as well.  Go us!!

And so here's what we've been doing the rest of our time at Grandma & Grandpa's:

Big Bears and PJs

Playing with the Uncles' top hats from Spencer's wedding

Crawling among the Barbies and koosh balls

Zach's girlfriend Piper + N = BFF

Mommy naps... teddy bears... and reading the mail with Grandpa

Play-doh made by Grandma

Grandma = Thanksgiving hostess extraordinaire

Bedtime stories with the Uncles.  Do you think these girls are loved enough?

L spent hours playing with these trains.  No exaggeration.

Bundled-up family walks

...to the farm

Hanging lights for the second annual tree lighting... we did a carol sing and countdown to the lighting as soon as it was dark.  (The girls were convinced-- as they were last year-- that elves came during their nap time to hang lights.)

For thy blessings, Lord, we are thankful!

All the world is God’s own field, fruit unto His praise to yield;
Wheat and tares together sown unto joy or sorrow grown.
First the blade and then the ear, then the full corn shall appear;
Lord of harvest, grant that we wholesome grain and pure may be.
(from Come Ye Thankful People Come, words by Henry Alford)
