A Birthday Pancake

If you're a fan of pancakes and waffles-- and my husband definitely is-- Polly's is a place you just have to get to in your lifetime.

It was the perfect place to celebrate M's birthday.  The heavenly look on his face after his first mouthful of one of Polly's pancakes with her real maple syrup was... well... heavenly.

I discreetly notified our waitress that it was M's birthday... not only did they sing to him, but a waiter played the ukulele too!  The girls helped M blow out his birthday candle.

We all enjoyed ourselves some blueberry pancakes!

A terrible picture of me... just pay attention to the other good-looking members of my family.  :)

The girls had fun taking rides on "Trot Trot III" outside.  I guess there have been previous Trot Trots who have now passed on.  This place has been in business since 1938, you know.

The breathtaking view of some of the White Mountains from Polly's lawn is pictured above.  The mountain just behind me with the cloud on top is Lafayette.

I think the best part about our visit here was that everyone on staff was super friendly with the girls.  This place is really busy (they were averaging a two-hour wait for a table that morning-- luckily we called ahead!) and they could have been really impatient with small children who take forever to eat and make lots of messes.  But they took special care to make sure our girls were comfortable, bringing them coloring books, crayons, reading material, and the special green sippy cups you see pictured above.  Several of the wait staff stopped by to chat with the girls, and made comments to me about how beautiful and well-behaved my children were.  That's a surefire way to win points with this proud mommy!

They definitely earned themselves some ad space here on my blog.

Go to Polly's... you won't be disappointed.

M is still talking about the pancakes.
