Hurricane Party
Just a quick post to let everyone know that we survived Hurricane Irene. We had very little damage around here and didn't even lose power, thankfully. In fact, I was thinking to myself all day that if I lived in the 1800's before television and internet, the thought that we were going through a hurricane would never have crossed my mind today. I would have simply thought it was a rainy, blustery day. I know the storm was more severe for others down the coast so I'm praying that cleanup will happen quickly for their sakes.
We spent our day in a cozy, relaxed way. I took N to the early service at church and M stayed home with L since we were pretty sure there would be no nursery. Given the fact that there were only 14 people, including me and N, at the service this morning, I think we made the right decision there. We came home and made a special brunch of crepes. Aunt Beth came over shortly after that. We had planned on having a little "hurricane party" together with her and it was a good thing because she lost power this morning. We spent the day playing with the girls together. Aunt Beth watched L while M and I both got a workout in during N's nap. Then we all enjoyed the lentils and homemade bread Aunt Beth had brought us for supper. A perfect meal for a stormy day! I do have some pictures but they are on Aunt Beth's camera, so I will post at a later date.
So... not only did we escape the full wrath of the storm, but we got a cozy fun day at home too! I consider us pretty lucky.
