Six on Sunday

It was a long, napless day for the girls today.  But the good news is, L was in bed by 6:15, N by 6:45... the whole house is picked up and the dishes are done, and it's only 7:45.  So I have some blogging time, and then it's early to bed for Mama too.  I'm pooped!

But I've also been thinking a lot about gratitude in the past few days.  I read a friend's blog who wrote "Six on Sunday" (six things for which she was thankful throughout the week).  So, I'm copying:

1) I'm thankful for lots of time with our friends in the past week, which has been a refreshing change after being quarantined with all of our sickness.  N especially has enjoyed lots of social time with all her little buddies.  On Saturday we took N's good friend Jeremiah to the Children's Museum and we all had a great time.

Here's N and Jeremiah playing with colored triangles you can put up to make a stained-glass window.  It was impossible to get everybody to focus for a picture with so many people and other exciting stimuli around.
L really enjoyed the area designated especially for crawling babies.
2) I'm thankful for the words of this hymn from church this morning:

Of all my prayers, may this be chief:
till faith is fully grown,
Lord, disbelieve my unbelief,
and claim me as your own.

A reminder that, though my faith may feel small at times, it will grow.

3) I'm thankful for my husband, who encourages me to communicate (not always my strong suit) and is kind and supportive of me even when he's having a tough time himself.  For example, he granted my wish for a nap this afternoon, despite the fact that he's had a long day too, not just with the girls but with work things as well.  So, I'm the only one in the house that took a nap this afternoon!  How often does that happen??

4) I'm thankful that N can always make me chuckle.  Today's example is this conversation we had on the way home from church:
N: Is the bread for little boys and girls? (she was referring to the Eucharist)
Mama: I think it can be.
N: Can I have some bread too?
Mama:  Well, that's something we'll have to think about.
N:  Well, since I'm such a big girl and I'm getting SOOO tall I think I should have some bread too since I ate bread from I was a baby and I grabbed the plate from Father Liias.
(Lately she's been interchanging the words "when" and "from".  She's also been stringing together huge run-on sentences.  We also saw a baby at the altar rail this morning who tried to grab the plate away from Father Liias.)

So then I launched into a rather lengthy explanation of communion and what it means and why we do it.  I tried to simplify as much as possible, but didn't do a very good job of it.

N's response was: I see sparkles, Mama. (pointing to her fancy church shoes)

So I guess we'll wait on that "bread" until she's a little older.  :-)

5) I'm thankful for these adorable matching Minnie Mouse nighties that we got in the mail on Friday from M's dad and stepmom.

They are soft and fuzzy and so snuggly that I want to squeeze these girls to bits.

The nighties came among other presents in a big package.  This totally made N's Friday... she was SO excited to get a package.  Her other favorite present in the package was some temporary Disney Pirate tattoos, which are now covering both hands and arms, as well as her kneecaps (at her request).

6) I'm thankful that my Mom has some time off and will be visiting this week, and we have other visits with more friends planned.  It's always so uplifting to spend time with loved ones.

Oh, and I guess I should include a 6b... N had a Number 1 and Number 2 (this has only happened twice) in the potty before she went to bed this evening.  It's encouraging to know she's making progress.  We're on our way to having one child out of diapers!  What a big girl!
