A few exciting things have happened in our household this week...
First, and most importantly, L got her first tooth yesterday! Of course it's just barely poking through, so I don't have a picture of it yet, but I'm eagerly looking forward to the two-teeth-on-the-bottom grin (one of the cutest baby things in my opinion). This also means she's growing up and entering the realm of "older baby" or even "soon to be toddler." Is that crazy or what? I remember the period of time from 8 to 13 months of age was a time of drastic change for N when she was a baby. She got a whole bunch of teeth, learned to crawl and then to walk shortly after that, weaned from nursing, and started eating table food. She changed from a baby into a little girl in a very short amount of time. I'm anticipating these changes for L in the next couple of months, and it's bittersweet. Most of me is ready and excited to see what kind of a little girl she's going to be, but a small part of me will really miss having a little baby around. I mean, who wouldn't?
One thing I won't miss, however, is the erratic sleeping patterns of a baby. L seems to be outgrowing those. She has been a champ lately, not only about sleeping through the night (with the exception of a few random teething wakings), but also about putting herself to sleep when I put her down into the crib awake. This makes putting her down for a nap much easier while N's awake. (I used to have to leave N for long periods of time while I rocked L to sleep... which usually meant I turned on the TV for her... and I never felt good about that.) I also think L is tuckering herself out by scooting around our living room floor all the time... so when it's nap time, she's really ready to sleep. Well done, little L! Mama thanks you.
Lastly, we inherited a very nice dining room set from my grandparents. Here's Princess N showing it off:
We've never been able to afford "real" furntire-- minus a couple of Ikea splurges, our furniture is mostly garage sale items or hand-me-downs. So it feels really cool to have something so nice. Thanks, Grammie and Grampie!
