I stand corrected!

*Quick update regarding yesterday's post that has nothing to do with this post or the post title: L awoke this morning with a smile on her face and we have not had a messy diaper or vomit yet today-- so I think we're going to pull through.  I was beginning to get worried.  The bad news is that she has now come down with sister's cold (poor little L!!) and, since her appetite is returning, she was up hungry four times in the night, and I didn't think it was appropriate to refuse her milk at this point.  After the long day yesterday, and an even longer night, I'm exhausted... but we're approaching the weekend... bright side, right??*

So us girls went out for lunch (and much needed coffee for Mama) and N and I shared a bagel with cream cheese.  Our lunch conversation turned out to be quite amusing.

N: (after the cleaning man at the coffee shop came by) That man sweeped under my table.
Mama: That's right, he swept under the table.
N: No Mama, he sweeped.
Mama (not quite getting it): Yes, that's right, he swept.
N: No Mama.  He sweeped!
Mama: Oh... well... (trying to figure out how to explain verb tense to a two year old)... Okay.  He sweeped.

And later, when we finished and were preparing to leave:

Mama: Okay, let's go wash your hands in the potty.
N: No Mama.  In the sink.
Mama: Well... yes N, you're right.  We wash up in the sink.  I guess I should have said "in the bathroom."
N: Mama, I should not wash my hands in the potty.  That's yucky.
Mama: Okay, N, I would not ask you to do that.  I'm glad you remember the rules!

And I was treated to the following new version of Row Row Row your Boat on the way home in the car:

Row row row your boat
Gently 'round the tree
Merry Merry Merry Merry
Stop and take a drink

I couldn't help but think what a good drinking song that would make, especially when sung in a round.  Hee hee.
