N and I were getting ready to deliver some of the Christmas cookies we baked to a neighbor next door today.  I suggested we write a "Christmas note" to attach to the plate of cookies.  I wrote a message on the front and let N scribble a little on the back.  As she scribbled (in left to right, letter-writing fashion), she narrated to herself:

"Dear L, Thank you for Mama.  I promise to be quiet while L is sleeping.  Dear Mama, Thank you for Father.  Love, Arthur."

(we've been reading a lot of Arthur books lately, specifically "Arthur Goes to Camp", in which Arthur writes a lot of postcards home to his family.)

Later on, at lunch time, I had cut up some fresh pineapple into cubes for N to munch on.  I find she will eat more fruit if she can eat it with a toothpick (she has a lot of fun spearing the pieces and popping them in her mouth).  Today, we were out of toothpicks, so I let her use a lobster picker.  When I handed her the lobster picker, she asked...

N: Where did this come from?
Mama:  Daddy and I have had that for a long time.  We got it when we got married, I think.
N: (pointing in the direction of our wedding picture on the living room wall) Right in the living room you got married!
