Workout Recap, Weekend Report, and Repeat Meal Plan

Hi everyone!  How was your weekend?

During quarantine our weekends have not really felt like weekends, since M has been working through them.  Because I teach online lessons all day Thursday and half the day Friday, he has to manage the girls and doesn't work at those times, so he makes up the time on the weekends.  We certainly miss him, and I think it's wearying and sad for us both not to have a shared day off.  I keep trying to remind myself how extremely fortunate we are to both still be working in this time of mass unemployment.  We have so many other reasons to be thankful too-- our health, the health of our family, kids that play nicely together, etc.  I try to dwell on those things rather than the difficult parts of this time.  It is hard sometimes.

Our Saturday was a really yucky day, weather wise-- we started the day with snow.

{Our first signs of spring, the vibrant yellow forsythia, dampened by the snowfall}

It snowed for the first couple hours of the morning, then changed to a sloppy wet snow, and then rain.  So before the girls could even think to go out and play the snow was really too wet and sloppy for snowballs or snowmen.  It was raw and cold and gray and just blech.  I will admit, it kind of got me down, and I sort of gave up on trying to restrict screen time or get the girls to exercise.  We had a lay around day.  The girls did a few chores, watched some Star Wars, played Legos, played video games, and stayed in their pjs most of the day.  I made some pancakes, packed up an Amazon return and took a drive around town after dropping it off at the UPS store, baked some cookies, took a walk with N, and did random catching up on household tasks and email.

One of the highlights of our weekend was a gender reveal party with all of our extended family... my brother and sister-in-law are pregnant!!

It was so fun; Ben and Tati had all kinds of games for us to play including a Kahoot quiz and a spin-the-wheel game (we won a roll of toilet paper on that one!  Hooray!  Lol!!).  They really came up with some creative ways to do it all online.  At the end of the spin-the-wheel game it was revealed that I will be having a new nephew!!!  Soooo excited!

On Sunday we had a really nice day-- a long run with my running buddy in the early morning, breakfast and chores with the girls, some binge watching of Joseph's Machines-- a fun YouTube channel if you're looking for a distraction during the quarantine!-- and a walk outside in the woods to a nearby reservoir.  The weather was SO beautiful and warm and it was uplifting after the dreary Saturday weather.  We topped off our hike with a drive through McDonalds for McFlurries.  I didn't take any pictures but it was lovely!

I'll move on to the workout recap now!

Friday 4/10: run outside with my running buddy, 6.8 miles, 9:52 pace

Saturday 4/11: rest day

Sunday 4/12: rest day (I did a short walk around the neighborhood after our Easter Feast!)

Monday 4/13: windy, blustery, rainy, thundery day.  Indoor run on the treadmill, 5.13 miles, 9:45 pace

Tuesday 4/14: This Fitness Blender upper body workout... a little heavier on cardio since the beginning of my week contained less running than usual.

Wednesday 4/15: run outside with my running buddy, 6.9 miles, 9:47 pace

Thursday 4/16: I combined two shorter Fitness Blender core workouts, with a warm-up before and a cool down after.

Friday 4/17: another run outside with my running buddy, 6.82 miles at 9:45 pace

As for the meal plan, it's going to be a repeat of last week's meal plan, since I shopped for two weeks and doubled all the ingredients again.  Here is that meal plan from last week!

I'm hoping the weather stays nice, because it does help our overall mood so much.  How are you all holding up?  Virtual hugs to all!  Have a great week!
