Radio Silence

Hello Readers.

Just quickly popping in to let you know what's keeping us busy around here.

Head Lice.

N getting her special stinky shampoo treatment

That's right; N brought it home from school last week. And those little creatures could not have chosen a better home, because that girl has a thick head of hair... prime real estate for louse-egg laying. I never realized exactly *how* thick her hair actually is, until I spent FOUR HOURS combing through it with a nit comb. I am now convinced that she has the most hair follicles of any human being on the planet... besides my husband, who is of course the person who bestowed upon her these lovely locks. Hairdressers always tell me that I have "so much hair!!" but my scalp, when I look at it now, seems like a barren wasteland of hair compared with my daughter's.

So anyway, we now have to schedule these 4+ hour nit combing sessions into our day, when it was already a struggle to find time in the day for everything that needed doing. But we are winning. Each time we find fewer eggs and bugs, and the combing sessions get progressively shorter.

M has taken over all of the combing since Friday when I found myself too exasperated to continue with it anymore.  I think my exasperation was mostly due to the gigantic mountain of unfolded clean laundry after I washed everything in our house in hot water, and my inability to fold and put away this clean laundry due to being busy with nit combing (oh and also vacuuming the whole house from top to bottom).  You all know how I freak out a little bit about getting behind on housework, and since I was getting behind on my job work too it was a bit of a panic session for me.

But M saved the day, and as I have watched him meticulously coming through N's hair for most of this weekend, and I have seen how patiently she sits for him hours on end, and how they chat and laugh together and have the most positive, calm attitude about the whole thing... it makes me love them both so much more, if that's even possible.  They could both teach me a few things about patience and peacefulness.  So that's the major bright side to this whole thing: I am married to the best guy in the world and have the most calm, mature, patient daughter there is.

The other bright side... after the first day of painful combing through long hair, we decided to make our job a bit easier by cutting things short:

Isn't she adorable???

And L cut hers too, for moral support:

I have been kissing those cheeks all weekend :)

So that is what has been keeping us busy; hopefully as my class ends in a week and the head bugs go away there will be more updates!  Hope you are all well.  May the Fourth be with you.
