C's 2-year Checkup
Here's the report of C's two-year checkup, about two months late (in the typical fashion of my checkup blogs)!
She was not happy with the exam and screamed when they tried to take her height and weight. She was a little better for the doctor but still very suspicious. I think she's hanging on to some bad memories of the doctor's office, and she has always been my most shy and stranger-anxious girl. It's all good. I know that it will get better as she gets older. She passed the exam with flying colors and is as healthy as a horse, so that's all that matters, right?
Stats:
Height 35 inches (75th percentile)
Weight 25 pounds (25th percentile)
Head circumference 19 inches (75th percentile)
Favorite Foods:
Oatmeal is loved in any form! Probably her number 1 favorite food.
Bananas (I get asked about 12 times a day, "Can I haf a pinana?")
Eggs
Grapes
Blueberries
Strawberries
Smoothies
Cheese
Spaghetti (see family recipes) or any kind of pasta (mac n cheese, casseroles, etc.)
Applesauce
Peanut butter or any nut butter (she still asks for "'statueo butter"-- pistachio butter-- quite often, even though we haven't had any in the house for a while)
Favorite Movies/TV Shows:
The Wiggles (she loves the "new" Wiggles-- Emma the yellow wiggle is her favorite)
Sesame Street
Sid the Science Kid
Curious George
Star Wars
The "Richard Scarry's Best" videos
Favorite Toys:
*Drawing and scribbling are definitely favorite activities... she loves to have an adult (or N) to sit at the table and draw with her. There are many requests to "draw a face?" or trace her hand for her.
*Strolling baby doll or L's bear Arnold or her own bear Emily in her baby doll stroller. Anything to do with a baby doll, really-- rocking, feeding, wrapping them in blankies, changing diapers, etc.
*N's Calico Critters and their house, and our Little People Princess Castle are still big favorites
*Pretend play in the toy kitchen is something she loves. Pretending to serve food, preparing tea parties, shopping with the shopping cart she got for Christmas and heating pretend meals in the microwave-- basically imitating all the things Mama does.
*Playing play-doh-- she'll entertain herself for a long while at this.
*Duplo blocks and the Stackadoos she got for her birthday this year
*Her sisters are pretty much her favorite toy ever. She wants to be doing whatever they're doing.
Favorite Books:
Richard Scarry's Best Mother Goose Ever
Cars and Trucks and Things That Go (finding goldbug is the best!)
Goodnight Gorilla
Arthur Goes to School
The David books by David Shannon (No David, David Goes to School)
Knuffle Bunny
Favorite Songs:
*Anything Raffi sings... particular favorites lately are "The Corner Grocery Store", "Going on a Picnic", and "Tingalayo"
*Anything Wiggles (see favorite TV shows)-- favorites are "The Full Moon Melody", "Trick or Treat", and "I've Got My Glasses On"
*She loves violin music (particularly the Suzuki CDs that we listen to in the car) or anything that sounds like ballet. She's doing lots of pirouettes in the kitchen these days.
*All of the songs from Frozen are much requested, and repeated. She knows every single word. Here's C's and L's version of "Do you want to build a snowman?":
She is getting so big and is so intuitive and observant. She picks up on tons of things that we don't give her credit for, I think, because she's our baby and we don't realize that she's really kind of a big girl now. But really, she's super smart and with it. And getting slightly stubborn. But that's all part of being two, now isn't it?

We love you, Miss C! Keep on learning and growing!

Beautiful little voices singing "Do you want to build a Snowman"! Who doesn't like "Frozen"?? hehe.
ReplyDeleteWe have that Richard Scarry video, and two others like it, on VHS and I am clinging to our VCR for the sole reason of being able to play those videos - we haven't watched them in awhile but they were SUCH favorites for A&W (and for me too!). And what's this... the third baby grows up? That can't be! But it seems mine is doing it too... oh my :)
