Vacay + Race Tomorrow

We enjoyed a much-needed vacation this weekend.  We rented a little ski "chalet" up in the White Mountains of New Hampshire and repeated our Columbus Day weekend tradition of taking the girls to Storyland and Polly's Pankcakes.

This year, we made things even better by extending the stay for an additional day, and inviting Grandma & Grandpa and Aunt Beth to come along.

Here are the pics!

Friday:
Just our family had arrived, so we took the girls on a short hike to Sabbaday Falls, just off the Kancamagus Highway.

Breakfast at the "chalet" before departure (the girls were thrilled with our "vacation house" and probably could have spent all day just hanging out there)!

Everybody did great with the walk and we had a beautiful little spot for our picnic lunch.

Grandpa, Grandma & Aunt Beth arrived Friday night.

Saturday:
Storyland!!!

(We got our picture with Mother Goose this year!!-- except for C, who was a bit suspicious of anyone in costume)

Although C babbled on and on about "Rella" afterwards, she was too scared of her to get in the picture.

I partook in a few of the nauseating rides this year, including the Twirling Turtles, but I think Daddy still wins the prize for Most Nauseating Rides for the sake of his children.

C = not a big fan of the Whirling Whales.

(She did enjoy the coral playground, however.)

These little Miss Muffets were happy to feign being frightened for a picture!

This crazy driver chirped the tires a few times, but overall did quite well!

Lastly, some footage of the girls riding the Polar Coaster, yet another nauseating ride on the Teacups for Daddy, and L shaking her groove thang at the Princesses' Dance Party.

What a fun day!

Sunday:
Polly's!

(There was a 2.5 hour wait for a table, so we spent some time outside throwing leaves before we got seated!)

The girls were wonderfully happy and patient while we waited for our food.  Why do we subject our children to the torment of a 2.5 hour wait for a table, you may ask?  If you could only taste these pancakes, you would understand.

I think her plate was cleaned in less than a minute.

Chocolate chip pancakes and chocolate milk for this girl.  That's where that grin comes from.

World's most patient baby.

The fun's not over yet... my 10K in Boston is tomorrow, and the girls and M are coming to cheer me on.  I can't wait!  Race updates and pics forthcoming!
