C's 18 month Checkup

Now that C is almost 20 months, I guess I'll blog about her 18-month checkup.

The doctor won her over for part of the exam, but she was still *very* unhappy for most of it.  It's not that our doctor is unfriendly; C just really has trouble with people other than her very closest friends.  Just in the past few weeks, however, her stranger anxiety has started to diminish, so I'm hopeful about her 2-year checkup.  We'll see what the next six months bring!

Of course, the two shots in each leg didn't really help matters much.

But she recovered well, and a trip to the roadside hot dog stand afterwards helped her out a little too.

Here are her stats:

Height:  32.25 inches (60th percentile)
Weight: 21 pounds, 9 ounces (10th percentile)

(It is quite likely that her weight measurement was inaccurate... she was screaming and thrashing wildly on the scale.)

Favorite Foods:
She's still a big fan of soups, as I mentioned before (chowders, potato soups, pureed vegetable soup, tomato soup)
Cookies (a name she gives to lots of things-- a biscuit, a cracker, an actual cookie, a blob of almond butter on her plate... almond butter is another new favorite, by the way)
Blueberry Smoothies
Scrambled eggs
Hummus
Guacamole (she calls it "guap")
Cheese
Yogurt
"Noonuls" (mac and cheese, spaghetti, any kind of pasta)
Oatmeal or other mushy breakfast foods
Blueberries, grapes, bananas, pears, peaches, pineapple, raisins

Favorite Movies/TV Shows:
She doesn't have a long attention span for TV (maybe 20 minutes or so) but she does have a few favorites now...
THOMAS.  This is by far her favorite.  I guess big sister's influence has rubbed off.
The Wiggles
Sesame Street
The Richard Scarry's Best series (Learning Songs, ABC Video, Sing Along Mother Goose, etc.)

Favorite Toys/Activities:
*Barbies-- the latest craze is Barbies in the bathtub.
*Reading books.  C is always up for this.  She'll approach you with a book and say "Weed tories, weed tories, weed tories" (read stories) and back up into your lap until you agree to read to her.
*She enjoys playing with our car park and Thomas train set, but when big sister is around this process requires a referee.
*Coloring, painting, sidewalk chalk.
*Playing in water, like our sand and water table, or playing in the sink (only rarely do we do this, and under careful supervision, to prevent flooding of the house!)
*Wearing hats.  She'll put anything on her head-- a book, a hat, a toy, a (used and dirty) plate, and then say, {Do you like my} "Party hat?" (which is quote from one of her favorite books, Go Dog Go)

Favorite Books:
the "How Do Dinosaurs" series by Jane Yolen and Mark Teague
Go Dog Go
Thomas & Friends Railway Rhymes
Silly Sally
Duck in the Truck
Old School Sesame Street books, such as Wait for Me! and The Everything in the Whole Wide World Museum
The Franklin books (turtles are her favorite!)

Favorite Songs:
*She still loooves Rock-a-bye Your Bear, or anything Wiggles.  She frequently requests a "Wiggles song."
*Raffi tunes are a big hit, especially Walk Walk Walk, Something in My Shoe and Thumbelina.
*She likes to sing Twinkle Twinkle and ABCs.  Twinkle is "Finkle Daee" and ABCs is just "BCs".
*Head, Shoulders, Knees & Toes
*I'm a Little Teapot

She is really talking a lot now and interacting more with sisters.  She is starting to play and pretend with them a little, which I love to see... it always makes Mama's job easier when girls can play well together and entertain each other!

Here's to 18 months!  We're moving through this toddler time at lightning speed!

Peekaboo!  I've got a bucket on my head!
