7 Quick Takes Saturday-- "Kids Say the Darndest Things" Edition

I just had to write down some of the crazy things my kids are saying lately, 7QT-style.

We took an impromptu drive to M's hometown last Friday after L and C had checkups at the doctor (we wanted to give C some drive time to sleep off the shots).  M was pointing out his childhood house to us, and then showed us the street corner where he fell off his bike and broke his arm as a child.  L remarked, pointing to a random house, "Well, in that house I broke my arm."

She just had to 1-up her Daddy!

C's funniest phrases lately:

She runs around the living room, shouting "WE DID IT!!!" for no apparent reason.

If she tastes a food she likes, whether liquid or solid, she'll remark, "Mmmmm... juicy!!"

Speaking of C, she has started saying "What happened?" when something falls down or spills (a sort of replacement for her more baby-ish "uh-oh" of previous months).  It comes out sounding more like "It happens!" or sometimes "S**t happens!"  Never fails to make me smile!

I bought L this car park as a kind of late birthday present-- it was $8 at our local kids' consignment store and she really wanted it.

It was a great purchase, by the way.  She has spent many, many hours in the last few weeks playing with it.

There weren't any cars that came with it, so we've gathered a random assortment of cars that we already had amongst our toys.  One came from our Duplo Legos, and our little Lego man likes to drive it around the car park.

Guess what name the girls came up with for Lego Man?

Ballsy.

There have been many conversations about what Ballsy is up to any given day.  I manage to hide my  LOL-ing with great difficulty.

We have a family of wild bunny rabbits that have taken up residence in the stone wall in our backyard.  There are two babies who seem to have no fear and come quite close to the girls.  L loves them affectionately, and keeps trying to get close enough to pet one.  The two babies have been named "Molly" and "Skyball".

I guess we've got a "ball" theme going on with the naming of things in this household.

We were eating salad with our dinner tonight, and L asked N as she pointed to a radish, "Do you like these potatoes?"

Lastly, not a quote but pictures... my beautiful girls dressed up in Grandma's old slips and staged a ballet performance with the tissue paper flowers Grandma made for them.  I just got a kick out of how beautiful they looked, dressed essentially in underwear.

P.S. It has been unbearably hot and humid here this week and we all can't waaaaaait for the weather to break.  Our poor kids... the heat really takes a lot out of them, especially baby C.  We've had 7 days above 90 degrees, and according to our weather man that constitutes a heat wave here in these parts.  Since we don't have AC here in our house (other than window units in the girls' rooms), and the AC in our van conveniently broke this week, we've been "planning our lives around the weather" as my husband said to me earlier today.  It's supposed to cool off tomorrow-- we're keeping our fingers crossed.

Hope you are all staying cool!
