It's the Little Things
Linking up with Sarah today.
It's been an extremely busy week, and lots of thoughts (on matters great and small) have been occupying my brain. Of course as a long-time journaler, I'm sort of yearning to process it all by writing about it here, but I'm still figuring out what I want to "make public"... and besides, it would take lots of hours (that I don't really have) to write about everything! Stay tuned and you may find some ramblings concerning what's going on in my head. But for now, I'll just share the wonderful "little things" that have kept me afloat this week.

One
C stands.
Oh my baby girl, how dare you grow up on me.
(She gets so excited about bath time that this is her favorite place to pull up and stand. She even stands here when it is not bath time, hoping and waiting.)
Two
While watching her new favorite movie, L likes to make a walking cast out of the VHS box:
(So yeah, the girls can't get enough of Star Wars lately... they always watch with Daddy so he can skip the scary parts. I guess we encourage it, since the force is strong in our family. Have I mentioned that yet here? :)
Three
Living on a hillside makes for beautiful sunrises.
(And yes, thanks to my children, I'm usually up to see the sun rise!)
Four
N's Spiderman Book.
She's been working on it most of the week (with a little help from Daddy).
My favorite page is above: "Spiderman jumped. Spidergirl gasped."
(Spiderman falling)
(Spidergirl catches Spiderman. They shoot their webs together-- notice that Spidergirl's web forms a bow, because she's dainty like that.)
(Then they get married, of course.)
Five
L Dancing:
This girl has got the music in her.
Six
Speaking of "having the music"...
I've been playing the Suzuki Violin CDs in our car ever since I started the girls on violin, and I'm happy to report that they now request them (I had hoped I wouldn't have a mutiny on my hands for bombarding them with the Twinkle variations).
Before I even get her buckled in, L always says, "I want the violin songs." (Or, in L-speak: "I want the biyin songs.")
She has a couple of favorites on the CD, and whenever they play she always asks, "What's this song called?" even though she already knows.
I'll reply, "Gavotte from Mignon." (Or whatever the song is-- her other favorites are Perpetual Motion, the Bach Minuets, and Witches Dance.)
And she always says, "Gavotte from Meeyon is so beautiful," and sighs contentedly.
For a violin teacher, that just about makes my day.

We would have so much in common in real life :)
ReplyDeleteMy kids are hooked on Star Wars, too... of course watched with Daddy, for the same reasons. Love it!
