Goodbye House

Have you read the book, by Frank Asch?

It's the story of Baby Bear and his family.  They load all of their things onto a moving van and say goodbye to their house.  First they imagine the memories they've experienced in the house, and then Papa Bear carries Baby Bear to each empty room and they say goodbye.  We checked this book out of the library on Tuesday because, well... it's time to start saying goodbye to our house.

Don't get me wrong... the feeling of having really really outgrown our two-bedroom townhouse makes  my ears itch on a daily basis (I mean, do we really have to have so many toys invading our living room and arts & crafts invading our kitchen???  Oh yes we do, there's nowhere else to put them).  But looking around at our little place here, getting all empty and echoey, is starting to make me just a wee bit sentimental.

A lot has happened to us in the three years we've spent here.  We've brought two babies home from the hospital to this place.  Two out of three girls took their first steps in that kitchen you see pictured above.  We've done a lot of growing up here... each one of us.

As they say, all good things must come to an end.  And I'm pretty confident that more good things await us in the new place to which we are going.

I've written out the whole story of how the process of purchasing our first home unfolded.  I'll be publishing it in parts here in the days to come.  The story has not quite ended yet, but we're pretty close.  I'm hoping that by the time I've told the entire story, I'll have a happy ending to add to it.

And so, although we are saying "Goodbye House {Apartment}", we are also saying "Hello New House".  And we're SO excited!

Stay tuned...
