Eight

Eight years ago today

I got ready

to walk with my father

and be given to my husband in marriage.

We were joined by our friends
and our family
in song
and reading of scripture
and prayer
and celebration of the Eucharist

to mark the joyful day that we were joined before the Lord.

And then we left happily as man and wife
and posed lovingly for pictures

before I bustled up my dress
and danced with my Daddy

and my brand new husband
and we toasted
and I threw the bouquet
and we cut the cake
(and maybe frosted each other a little)
and then got ready to leave our celebration

to embark on many more adventures as a married couple!

As I looked back on all of these events today, I came across this picture:

That's our little flower girl, Naomi.  Do you see what's on her wrist?  It's a "light up" watch, given to her by M.  Naomi loved to play with M's indiglo watch, and so he gave her a kid-sized one as a present, to thank her for being our flower girl.

One of those things that slips from your memory pretty easily, but I'm so glad I remembered it today.

That same kind thoughtfulness that M showed to Naomi he shows to our girls every day, tenfold.  I realized that that little watch was an early indicator of what a wonderful Daddy he would be.

And I'm just so thankful I could burst!

Happy Anniversary, my love!  May we have eight times as many more happy years together.
