N's First Crush
Today at preschool pickup, one of N's schoolmates, Alexandra, had a brother who came with her Dad to pick her up. This brother was a bit older, I'd guess maybe 4th or 5th grade.
On our way home from school, N said dreamily:
"Alexandra's brother is SO handsome. I'd like to marry him."
I smiled and said, "Yes, he was a handsome boy."
She replied, a little dismayed, "But he didn't say anything to me."
I replied, "Well, if you'd like to marry him, maybe you should introduce yourself the next time he comes."
She cried out, with a sigh, "Oh, Mama! I should have said something to him! I really should have!"
Ah, the bitter regrets of preschool love.
