Songs of the Week
While we're somewhat housebound with new baby, I've been enjoying listening my way through our CD collection, Pandora, and of course plenty of Raffi and other kid music. So now, in no particular order... here are my songs of the week:
Number 1:
L is always singing. There's hardly a time, whether in the car, bathtub, at home, or at the grocery store, when I'm not hearing some kind of song from her. Her favorites to sing are Twinkle, ABC's, Baa Baa Black Sheep, Baby Beluga, and Wheels on the Bus... but you really never know what's going to come out of her mouth. I captured this brief example of her singing the other day:
Number 2:
If you listen carefully in the background of the video above, you'll hear one of Benjamin Britten's Flower Songs, "The Succession of Four Sweet Months"... I found this CD in our drawer this week, and listening to it makes me very happy. (Sorry I couldn't find a professional recording on YouTube! Buy the album... you won't be sorry!)
Number 3:
I really love Billy Joel. The following song has made me cry several times this week (in a good way). I know I'm a silly sentimental Mommy (and perhaps slightly hormonal... and sleep deprived...)
Number 4:
How can you not laugh (or at least smile) at this one?
Number 5:
Uplifting message and some nice fiddle playing. Enough said.
Number 6:
This has been one of my favorites ever since seeing the movie "Shine"... it always makes me think of my Dad since we saw that movie in the theater together a long time ago. I heard it on the radio this week and thought of him. Hi Dad!!
I hope you're finding some joy in the music you're listening to these days!
