Our Fourth... and Lazy Summer Days

We had a busy Fourth of July weekend visiting family on both sides.  Lots of fun!  Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures of our cookout with Grandma H. and Grandpa Mike on Saturday... but the girls had lots of fun playing in their yard and at the beach down the road.  On Sunday, we got to hear Aunt Beth playing patriotic tunes on her trombone:

Here are a few pictures from our Monday celebration at Aunt Beth's new apartment:

This has been our first week with Daddy home from school for the summer.  Hence, the "lazy" days of summer.  These days have actually been quite busy though.  Not busy in the school-year way, but just... well... full.  There are plenty of things for us to get caught up on, and to-do lists to accomplish.  So we're filling our days with those things, but including plenty of family fun as well.  Just a few of the great things about having M home for the summer have been:

* being able to answer "yes!" when N comes into my bedroom in the morning and asks, "Is Daddy here?"
* the little things:  noticing that (magically) cups and utensils for the girls and/or my meal and drink appear on the table at mealtimes, or discovering that, while I've been packing the diaper bag, N has already been taken to the potty
* because a lot of the "tidying up" gets done more quickly with two sets of hands, I have more time to just sit and play with the girls.

I'm SO thankful for this time.  I'm a lucky gal.  Even if we don't do any fancy trips or crazy fun adventures this summer, I'm appreciative enough of our day-to-day family time.

But of course, there are lots of fun things in store... another birthday party, some trips to see family, an anniversary, preschool shopping, and a dance class for N.  Stay tuned for reports!
