Thankful

Since we're having our Thanksgiving feast today here at Grandma's house, I figured I would write my Thanksgiving post today.

So, obviously I'm thankful beyond measure for these two blessings:

I'm also thankful for all our wonderful family.  Yesterday we kept up the tradition of running a Thanksgiving Day 4.8-mile road race with my father and two brothers.  Because we moved our Thanksgiving feast to today, my Mom was able to walk the race since she wasn't busy in the kitchen all morning.  I think she gets the gold medal for the day-- what other Grandma would be spry enough to push two girls almost 5 miles in the double jogger?

On a side note, I'm also thankful that I managed to run the whole race, and met my goal of finishing in under an hour.  Yes, I know that's extremely slow, and although I crossed the finished line a full 15 minutes after my husband and brothers, I feel proud that I was just able to get out there and do it, only six months after having a baby, and that I lost nearly 20 pounds in the training process.  There's a tiny competitive part of me that wishes I could go faster, but I'm telling myself to save that for future years when I might be able to do some of my training without a double jogger (which makes it difficult to train for speed).

After running the race, we drove up to visit some of M's family.  I'm thankful that we were able to see them, at least for a brief period of time, before the girls got too antsy and we headed home.  Both N and L fell fast asleep in the car almost instantly after such a busy day, and I'm doubly thankful that we all slept about 11 hours upon arriving home.  I'm feeling pretty awesome today.

And so I thank the Lord that we are surrounded by love and laughter today, and that, although we aren't rich, we have more than enough to get by.  I hope your Thanksgiving is happy and blessed!
